What can you buy for twenty cents?

On the way to hubby's friend's house for 4th of July we stopped by a bakery to get some dessert. As I was getting out of the car I saw a shiny dime so picked it up and put it my pocket. And then when we got to his house I found another dime in the backyard. Since no one claimed it I picked it up. I was twenty cents richer. I thought about what I can possibly buy for twenty cents. The only thing that came to mind was a banana. What else can I buy with these two coins?

@mrki444 I don't know. Black caviar or truffles are definitely very expensive, as are dried morels.

That's great. I don't think I'd be able to buy an apple here in NYC for that money.

Candy in those bins in the supermarket that are by the pound, $.20 worth of stamps, a pencil?

One stamp is probably 47 cents (not sure exact amount but somewhere around that) so won't work. Maybe a pencil, though don't remember the last time I used one or shopped for one. And I don't eat candy so that's out.

I don't think I can get even a banana for 20 cents here. I remember when I could make a phone call, buy a cup of coffee and even take the bus for a dime. I remember when beggars would ask us if we could spare a dime.

Trader Joe's sells bananas per piece and the price is 19 cents. So I'd end up with a banana and a penny in my pocket.

@lovebuglena Here we don't use the penny any more. It was taken out of circulation a few years ago. Enjoy your banana and change!

Maybe a piece of candy. :) Or you can save it to grow the two coins.

I don't eat candy, so just put the two dimes in the coin rolls that I will later deposit to the bank.

I don't eat gum so that is out. But I wouldn't mind a banana.

I think one carrot would be more than 20 cents.

Yeah. I put the two dimes in my dime coin roll that I will deposit to the bank once it is filled.
