He died in 1977. 1925 - Merv Griffin was born. He was an American actor, singer, producer, TV host and media mogul. He hosted the Merv Griffin Show from 1965-1986. He is best-known for creating Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He died in 2007. 1927 - Janet Leigh was born. She was an American actress and author. She is best-known for her role as Marian Crane in the 1960 movie Psycho. She was married to Tony Curtis from 1951-1962 and is the mother of Jamie Lee Curtis of Halloween fame. She died in 2004.
