With a pencil and paper I can conquer the world. Imagine what you could do. You could write a short story or fashion a novel. You could make people come alive on paper. Write an adventure about a boat, plane. or train. Solve a murder or mystery with great panache. Become the greatest crime solver since Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Make dreams come true with a way of the hand. Show how love really is the answer. Create loving families, throw a party with ease. Have dinner with a King and Queen. Walk the forest with a werewolf and never fear he'll bite. Take a trip in space and see the planets we have only heard about. You can see so many wonderous things and do them all a once. The glory of the paper and pen is not to be dismissed. When they are used together with a creative mind we all benefit from the results.

I still write in journals I started after losing Dustin. It helps to get it out.

We all have our passions. I also feel this way, a bit, about crafting, especially cross stitch.

@HazySue I have done a lot of cross stitching over the years too, but my eyesight isn't strong enough for it these days. I quit quite a number of years ago.

Gosh, how do I say it but writing stories, beginning with letters to friends, were typed in the old typewriter. I am not the pencil and paper writer though when I conceive ideas in the past, I usually jot the ideas using ballpen and notebook. Writing for me has become easier with the use of the keyboard. Alas, I am not a story writer, just a blogger, as modern lingo has coined.

@HazySue I understand. The genuine bloggers are those who seriously design their graphics and work on their texts. I am far from that. Not a techie, I couldn't even photo shop. Hu hu. Mine is entering thoughts that capture my attention, For example, compared to a novelist or a dramatist, or a poet, I am the diarist.

There is nothing "just" about being a blogger. That can be hard work.

Mine too, I guess they always will. It must be why I prefer to write with them over typing on a computer.

I used to write stories. Right now I'm taking notes as I read A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. The book is a little bit hard to read,

Sometimes it is better to take notes than to forget what is going on. When there are too many people in a boo I need to write down the names.

I always have pen and paper (even used receipts) to write on something when I need it. It's very helpful though we can encode it in our phones.

I agree about that. Before I used to have my diary and 3 kind of pen, black, red and blue. Whenever I go somewhere I always write everything what’s in my mind. But now I can’t do that anymore. I can’t hold a pen longer but I can type using my laptop or my my phone.

I don't always use a pencil. I have gel pens in every color imaginable. I used to use them to grade papers when I was teaching.
