A Dog Called Macho

During our stay in the island we met the owner’s dog called Macho. The owner was hesitant to free him when there are guests because he is a big dog. A Doberman in fact. We saw him looking out the window and asked the owner about him. When she heard we love dogs she let him out and boy he was such a sweet dog. This is him and my dad. So whoever said Doberman’s are scary?

When I was a child, my neighbor had a Doberman. As a child, to me she was huge, but she was the most gentle, friendly and fun dog to be around! She definitely was a great guard dog, but she loved all the kids int he neighborhood and never growled or barked or threatened us in any way. But she would definitely show her teeth if any strangers came around that she didn't know!

Yeah I think this experience with this doberman made me want to own one. Such a gentle soul.

@moffittjc Oh I didn’t know about that. Where did you learn about them not swimming. That’s a nice trivia. Btw, my dream dog is bull terrier.

@flapiz They're just such big dogs though. I don't have room for any big dogs, I would have to stick to a small dog if I ever got a pet. Oh, and a word of caution: Doberman's can't swim, and because of their muscle mass, they sink straight to the bottom when they get in the water!

I think they are lovely dogs but a bit scary. My old neighbors used to have dobermans and they just bark and bark to people passing by

Yeah they usually bark right like very typical guard dogs. We used to own a doberman.

@rakski Sometimes our fear is because of how they are wrongly portrayed in television and the social stigma.

Yes I was suprised with Macho too. He’s like a small dog trapped in a big dog body. Very calm and even the young kids can pet him.

I am still scared of Doberman. But not until I can see that the dog is wagging it's tail and looking friendly. That is the time that I will pet a dog. I owned a Chinese Shar Pei before. It is considered as a fighting dog but it is the sweetest dog ever.

@Friendlypink Winnie is a cute name. It reminds me of Winnie the Pooh. On the good note she is probably in Dog Heaven now watching over you.
