Choose to be happy...Really ? 7-11-' 19

Honestly I don't know about what's wrong with my silly daughter in Ohio. She's the one in the photo in the middle of us with darker hair when she visited us last year. She is my silly, selfish one that has everything yet helps no one and thinks she is kind, yet when I mention a problem instead of really helping she says things like this. Sent me an e-mail/no a text about " When you get up this morning mom, Choose to be happy and that will make you have a better day" That was a few days ago and frankly I have tried that hoping she was right. But she was not. Every day I try it the day just goes on like it always does. I texted her back eventually and told her only people who ARE already truly happy says such a thing. Do you agree or does that idea really work for you? As for me, I am wishing Call the midwife would come back on soon. Some TV programs make me happy for a while. Talking with my special friends here also sometimes makes me happy. Playing games/challenges on Pogo makes me happy for a bit. I am still anxiously waiting for Orange is the new Black coming out I think end of this month. It makes me laugh. Been watching Big Brother as I am the biggest fan ever Makes me happy. What makes you happy? BTW, do you also use Mylot as kind of a journal ? It sometimes helps me keep track of things

I get what she is saying and I think you are mistaking happiness for enjoyment. We can enjoy tv and escape reality for a while but that isn’t happiness. I am happy when I am with my family. When I am working, when I am helping others. Happiness comes from within and while it isn’t easy to find when we are down faith is the best medicine!! I hope you find your happiness

I try but hard when you are in pain and lonely. At least you have family around. to talk with. I only have daughter for a few minutes here and there . So yes it is hard to ignore pain and loneliness at the same time It's not enjoyment I seek as much as someone visual to speak with.etc. would help thanks sweetie

@bunnybon7 I wish I was closer so I could actually visit with you. I do have family around especially the grandkids but my kids are all very busy so I have to grab a moment here and there.

i fear i aint big'n t.v., hon, so'd be a poor person to answer that part. 's fer happiness? i'm a firm believer'n ones mindset makin' a diff'rence. i make'n 'ffort to 'njoy e'en the smallest 'f whimsy 'round my world. i seek out these thingies daily, e'en when i couldn't get outdoors. 'twas 'lways somethin' if'n i gave my mind the chance to warm my heart, e'en if'n jest briefly. i'm thinkin' this'd be a habit, perhaps? maybe ya need to give such a better chance 'n make small changes? no ma'am, i don't use this place's a journal. folks'd most likely faint if'n i did, lol.

Well don't know why I said that about a journal but sometimes I have went back in my posts to remember a date something happened. so I guess that's why I said that. I am taking some of you alls advice and it has helped a little. Yesterday it seemed to help a lot till I boasted on here about it. Then a big storm came and I still tried

@bunnybon7 no frettin' o'er such, hon. i confess i used to utilize facebook fer such. i can tell ya what days't snowed/rain'n how much from lookin' through the "memories" thingy there, lol. since y'ave a puter 'n most like some software ya can pen schtuff to, a journal aint a bad idea. ya could type'n such daily. highlights 'f yer day, thingies that made'ja blue, thingies that made yer heart sing. put details 'f who/what/when. then ya can look back't those 'n perhaps see what triggers certain thingies. when yer blue 'n strugglin', ya can find those times 'f happiness. such'd be a reminder that not all days suck :) i'm proud 'f ya fer tryin'! changin' one's mindset'n habits 'tis quite the challenge all by 'tself.

I like to have 30 minutes of time to myself a day, it doesn't always happen, but I can tell a difference in myself when it does. I feel better, I am happier.

I'm pretty optimistic, but sometimes it's a toss up on what needs focusing. Life isn't always a bed of roses for anyone. When down, I read my head off.

I'm generally happy. I don't draw happiness from TV, though I like to watch movies and shows. Happiness for me comes from accomplishing something, usually a finished book, or even spending a little time in it each day. Happiness also comes from my relationship with Jesus Christ. I couldn't be happy without Him.

What she most likely means is we have a choice-focus on what makes us miserable and talk about it/dwell on it and feel bad each day-OR choose to focus on helping others or what makes us happier each day. And yes that is a choice we each make for ourselves every day. When my family was hungry and homeless we could have chosen to focus on that but instead we prayed for people, told them about God and His amazing love, we made people smile and gave them a better day. It BLESSED us doing this and helped immensely to get through those 7 months. =)

I also like the same shows you mentioned and although not everyone will understand how you feel, I do. It's really hard to have a positive attitude when you are sick and bed bound. Every time you think or feel something negative, try thinking of a positive. Every time something bad happens, try thinking of something good, something you are thankful for.

@DaddyEvil I know she tries because she has a good heart and loves her mother, me but is a bit odd also as some things she says and does don't often make common sense but she has a lot going on hard to manage right now. More then most of us.

@bunnybon7 Oops! I meant the daughter you don't live with, Bonnie... although, I'm not too sure about the one you live with, either. I do believe she tries, though.

Yes I'm keep track of things here too especially when I talked them right and remember what tags to search for later. I agree somewhat with that idea and I feel that my husband could be happier than he is. But aren't you in pain a lot? If you can change what you think about that might help. Just thinking happy thoughts won't do it necessarily. But, I don't agree that anyone should tell another person that. That would be like saying if your in pain and can forget about it the pain will be gone. It might be gone out of your thoughts temporarily but not gone completely. The Bible says in Psalms, I think as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Essence we become what we think about. Last year I was in a lot of pain but I had to work so I learned to manage it. Sometimes I could forget completely and other times it was always there lurking

yes you get what I am saying. It's just that instead of caring or saying something encouraging she suddenly texts me out of no where, Mom you need to choose to be happy thats it. Answer to all my problems ? she don't even say how can I help or I am here for you. Just that I should choose to be happy

I get what she is saying, but you`re not. The t.v. shows are happy entertainment, they are in the moment happiness. This is what I get from your daughters statement, be positive and attract positive in your life, meaning to be happy no matter what. While things look bad with sickness and less of what you want to have, be happy that you are here and enjoy what you do have. I have to be happy while watching people die, its not easy but I have to look at it this way, things could be worst. Tony is slowing dying of stage 4 lung cancer but he looks at it this way, he could be bed ridden with a feeding tube. I chose to be happy, no matter how dire life is.

@andriaperry geesh. I just meant I don't see how anyone could be happy to watch people die. Not sure why you took it as a mean comment. It wasn't meant that way. Do you know my eldest daughter? She has not worked for all she has. She has gotten a lot from her relationships. Also, I don't begrudge her. I just wish she didn't say it the way she did. She just doesn't understand me. I love that she has all she does and hope it continues. You sound like you care about the people you take care of so how am I being selfish to expect her to care about her mother instead of just passing it off by telling me I should just be happy ? It's like she is saying "there, I did my good deed for today. Told my mom to be happy which really helped her. now moving on." I don't understand why you would say it makes me selfish to want more attention from her? confused.

Yes friend, I think Mylot has become the diary of all of us hahaha, and if you can choose to be happy, even if we are close or not to the things or people we love most, you can find happiness simply by walking barefoot on your balcony , seeing the sky or doing good, smelling a rose or seeing people in the streets, smiling is living, giving peace to your soul also, being happy is simple God just wants us to be happy without as many vanities as you have to pay or what your neighbors would say if you have a year car or not, or if your children need things they don't really need, happiness is in love, and if you don't feel love then that's when you're totally lost. Live and be happy.
