The outter bands of TS Barry hit us this evening with some rain and thunder. I had just gotten back from the store and noticed some rain clouds, but they didn't look that threatening.
After we got inside the house the thunder hit. It was loud and my mom and I both jumped. The rain followed soon after the big boom.
We are all ready for the rain here. I ran out and stocked up on bread in case we lose electricity here from downed trees.
Our forecast here in MS is calling for daily rain, winds up to 30 mph and up to 12 inches of rain.
Is anyone else here in MyLot land affected by this storm? And where are you located? I'm a little over a two-hour drive north of Baton Rouge, LA.

I wonder where they come of with these names. Wasn't there a hurricane Irma? I hate thunder. I had a cat that was outside and the sky was so blue and then the thunder and lightning came and she was upset. I ran out and got her and picked her up and put her underneath something I had on and talked to her while we were going upstairs to our apartment. It was very hard for her. It sounds terrible . Thank heavens no storm like that here, but, I live in Jerusalem, Israel. We have had winter storms not fun and we have to worry about earth quakes. Take care and I hope by now since that is an older post that the weather is much better where you are.

I believe the national weather service votes on the names and they rotate every year. We are good now but there are three storms out in Atlantic heading this way. Too soon to really know where they are going. The first one is marked for the east coast of the US. We will see.

The hurricane will be hitting land any moment now. There will be flooding, flash flooding and flooding in a couple of days from the rivers overflowing. They are all at or near flood stage, including the Mississippi River here in Baton Rouge.

@wolfgirl569 Yes it is. No need to have all those people on the road and risk lives. Everyone should be off when the governor declares a state of emergency.
