Quite a few years ago we traveled to North Carolina. One of the stops that we made was in Asheville to see the Biltmore Estate, the largest privately owned residence in the United States. What overwhelmed me was the massive size of the main residence. There are 250 rooms and 178,926 square feet of space.
Completed in 1895, it was a "summer house" for George Washington Vanderbilt II. It is filled with 15th century to late 19th century furniture, tapestries, carpets, linens and decorative items. The Estate at one time had an astounding 95,000 acres. 87,000 acres were sold to the Government and is now part of the Pisgah National Forest.
Have you ever seen the Biltmore Estate?

We've been one time since it's in the opposite end of our state and several hours away. But it really is magnificent..I loved it and would love to go again.

I would like to take that additional tour if they still offer it.

That is a lovely place. No, I have never been there but wrote about it on my armchair travel blog.
