Golden Privet Memories

The Golden Privet hedge is in full bloom in my yard. The bees, hummingbirds and butterflies love the booms. And the smell is all over the yard. Such a sweet fragrance. I picked a few of the blooms and brought them inside. Brings back good memories from my childhood. We had these hedges in our yard growing up. I would pick a bouquet for my Mom. She always made big deal and was so happy to see the wildflowers we picked for her. Funny how a smell can take you back to a moment in life. No plants in our yard; but I remember standing in the driveway when I was a kid eating seeds from the huge sunflower plants.

That is a great memory. My grandparents had sunflowers in their fields.

'tis a beaut 'n most certain all those lil insects 'n hummers 're havin' a grand time visitin' such :) honeysuckle does't fer me. i used to pick all sorts 'f flowers fer my sweet mamaw. she'd gone blind, but loved all the textures 'n scents. whate'er 'twas bloomin', be 't wild 'r cultivated went 'nto such. spring 'twas 'er favorite time fer such's she 'dored lilacs.

@CarolDM thanks, hon. she spent 'er last 3 yrs with no sight. 'twas a pleasure to go 'round 'n find thingies 'f diff'rent scents 'n textures fer 'er :) thingies she could touch'n release the scent brought 'er e'en more joy - the lavender, sage 'n rosemary bein' fav's.

Thank you. The bees especially like it and the hummingbirds too, they like that sweet nectar. Aww what sweet memories of your Mom. Sorry she was blind. But she knew what you were doing was out of love.
