The Burger That Never Was

I'm not sure whether I'm losing my mind or whether I'm unconsciously trying to save money on my vegan products but last night we decided to have a homemade 'takeaway' meal.
Adam fancied burgers so I prepared a potato salad and a coleslaw - his with real mayo; mine with vegan mayo. We then had potato wedges and fried onions.
Adam fried a beef burger and I fried a considerably more expensive vegan one. Adam's not a salad person but I love it so I chopped up some beetroot, tomatoes and cut some nasturtium leaves from plants I have growing outside.
Everything was cooked or prepared; my burger bun was adorned with various relishes and ketchup. I added lettuce and coleslaw and topped it off with a good spoonful of fried onions.
I put potato salad, beetroot, nasturtium leaves and potato wedges onto the plate beside the 'burger;.
The meal was delicious but wasn't until I took the empty plates back into the kitchen that I noticed I hadn't put my burger in the bun! I honestly didn't miss it - with all the veg and relishes the burger wasn't missed at all. So, I'll eat the burgers I have (I got 2 for £2.50 ... not an insignificant amount! ... but I'm not going to bother with burgers in future!

Who needs meat when you can get flavour from veg?

Absolutely delicious! I'd definitely recommend that you forget your burger next time and see what you think!!!

You're right. Often, if I decide to have something boring for dinner, Adam will have something with fried onions and I just have to have a portion!

That's pretty funny but I'm sure similar things happen quite often. If you get distracted you often miss something.
