Nothing to write about so I made something up

Who’d a thought? I’m a bit stuck for words. Well, not really but I don’t have anything in particular to write about so I thought I’d share a flash fiction that I wrote for a different website. It had to be exactly 100 words. And generally, flash fiction is expected to have a surprise ending. I called it ‘No Options’. No Options Joe sat by the lake, watching the birds come down to the water to drink. His wife would be expecting him home but he didn’t move. One shot and it would all be over. There was nothing else for it. He’d have to go through with it. There was no way out. He’d tried to explain how he felt, but she’d laughed and sent him off to put the children to bed. She wasn’t prepared to listen, but to him, the problem was insurmountable. Oh well, he’d just have to front up and take his flu shot like a man. The End The photo is of our house-boat when we docked at Decize in France

Yes, I know that for some, it's quite traumatic getting a needle.

@JudyEv When I'm dealing with needles, I always look away.

@1hopefulman I do too but other than not wanting to see the needle go in, it doesn't worry me.

@judyev I understand Joe, I’m reaching out to him. I have a thing about needles - it’s not a fear of pain for generally they don’t hurt. It’s the concept of a slither of tin ripping through my lovely flesh that’s the problem.

I know many are very apprehensive about a slither of tin ripping through their lovely flesh. I have to admit I've never looked at it that way. My condolences that you are one of those afflicted.

It was very comfortable living on the boat for 12 days. There were four couples on it.

I like doing the really short stories. They usually start off much longer then I start trimming it back and trying to make each word really count. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@JudyEv I thought that you couldn't post that here. That is too much for adults, let alone 13-year-olds. I laughed at the ending.

Okay, that was a nice surprise ending! Good job Judy! I've seen grown men cry like a baby when they've had to get a shot. It's really not that bad! lol
