I've been a bad scrivener... bad, bad.

According to Merriam-Webster, a scrivener is a professional or public copyist or writer: scribe. It also happens to be the name of the writing program I use for the first draft of my novels as it has nice features like a virtual corkboard for virtual 3x5 cards for character bios, place names and descriptions, and timeline notes. These are all helpful in maintaining consistency in a story.
I confess to being bad, bad because for two days I have barely added any words to my Camp NaNoWriMo project. I will rectify that today.
The good news is that I have until July 31 to finish writing 31,000 words. The better news is that I have just over 2,000 words to go to meet my goal.
As it is going to be too hot, heat index of 105+F/41+C, today to do anything outside other than gasp for air, I'll be in here working at the computer to type those 2,000 or so words.
How has your weekend gone? Anything fun and exciting happen?

I blinked and the weekend was over. Honestly, right now Wednesday is my favourite day of the week. EVERYONE else in the house has to work and I don't have to go anywhere--it's only day I have the house to myself for any length of time and even then there are weeks when the last child leaves for work at 7 and the first to come home is done at 9. So I still only have 2 hours when things stay where I put them.

As the Trace Adkins song says, "You're going to miss this."
My summers used to be filled with Scout Camp and fishing trips and hanging out with my sons. Now, this empty house is too quiet. Thank goodness for Ace and Ginger.

@SophiaMorros Kids do so much better with structure. The younger the kids, the more they need it. I learned that moving from middle school to elementary.

@DWDavis oh, I know I will miss it. The biggest challenge right now is the complete lack of consistent schedule. When the kids were younger we always did a short school schedule every day (Bible, read-aloud, reading and some math). It helped me maintain my sanity--I need a predictable schedule to be able to get anything done and my kids were much nicer people when we maintained at least a little structure.

The heat can sometimes really put a halt to any progress. I have been a bad content creator this last week. I keep wanting to play video games instead of working on what I really need to work on because I cannot keep focused. Hopefully, I can stop that and get ahead of things again.

@DWDavis Haha, well at least it isn't time much wasted when you are spending time together.
