A Thorny Treat

I've been dead heading my Floribunda rose regularly and it seems to have paid off. This little beauty is just showing it's pretty little pink face to the world and what a joyful thing it is. Sadly, the same can't be said of those large red thorns you can see to the left of the bud. I can cope with them at the moment but they're quite spiteful when it comes to cutting the plant back in winter. I wear garden gloves but they don't seem to help much.

It doesn't look pink to me but sometimes the colours show differently in photos.

It's very pale and having the sun on it tends to make it look whiter than it is. When it first buds the centres are actually a pale yellow.

Be careful when reaching in.

However hard I try to avoid them I always manage to get caught. I'm sure they somehow reach out and grab me when I'm not looking!
