Preparing for another academic year

I just got my daughter's books for Grade 7. Now I feel the new academic year coming. It's going to be another busy one for sure. I have instructed my daughter to do some advanced reading already because junior high is gonna be tough. She is currently undergoing Kumon training. I'm hoping that somehow that would be a big help. I still have a good 2 weeks before we go back to our usual school day routine. Am I excited? Part me of isn't, but part of me is eager because I want my girls to be busy again. * Image by LUM3N from Pixabay

She's new to Kumon and still adjusting to the rigors. But I'm happy to report that she's leveled up in less than 2 weeks.

Good luck to your daughter in Grade 7. Junior high is a big step up from elementary school.

Oh they have not started yet? Most schools started last June. I guess your school adopted the August as start of School Year. Right now, I get confused already when is the start of school year most Public school start still at the traditional June and ends either on March or April.

That's right. They've moved to August sched 2 years ago. I've learned to accept the change. Somehow there's comfort in not going through horrendous traffic in June.

@almostoveryou I think that’s the reason why they allow now for schools to open at different months to avoid crowding of the roads because if simultaneous opening of classes.

I remember being excited for class opening when I was in school. Only because I'll be having access to the school library again. :)

My daily routine doesn't change much while my children are off school. I'm still at work all day! I did manage to get three of the six weeks holiday off, though. I've just had two of them, and the third is soon. We haven't got much ready for when my boys go back. My eldest had to sort accommodation for when he goes back up to university. The youngest will need some new school uniform. I'll get that as late as possible, as always, because he tends to grow out of things if I get them early! I don't think my youngest is looking forward to going back to school. He's going to have to work hard as he is in Year 10 (I don't know the equivalent Grade). He'll be starting the final two years of school, then he'll have to decide whether he wants to continue his education or go straight into work. My eldest is, I think, looking forward to going back to university. He seems to be enjoying his independence, and he always works hard. I love having my boys at home when I can spend time with them. Except that I seem to have much less food in when they're there!

Advance reading of the lessons will help students aware of the coming lessons.
