Last night I came across this miniseries on Amazon Prime called Texas Rising. I had never heard of it before, but thought I would give it a try. It was first out on the History Channel in 2015. Being a 5 part, 10 hour miniseries I only got through part one.
The series starts right after the Battle of the Alamo and focuses on General Sam Huston and the Texan Army. There is also special focus on a company of Texas Rangers under Deaf Smith and Henry Karnes who serve as scouts for Sam Houston.
So far I am not that impressed. The acting does not seem great and there are a lot of scenes that don't really seem to push the story forward. I'm still trying to figure out who is who with many of the characters. Maybe part two will start to bring that more into focus. I did see searching some information about the series that in 2015 when the series came out that it didn't get good reviews.
I will continue to watch it and hope it improves over the series. Have you seen anything new?
