Stick Out Your Tongue Day New Friends Day 1977 - The world's first Global Positioning System (GPS) signal was transmitted. 2014 - James Garner passed away. He was born in 1928. He was an American actor, producer and voice artist. He played Bret Maverick in Maverick and Jim Rockford in the Rockford Files on TV. Some of his movies: The Great Escape, The Americanization of Emily, Grand Prix, Victor/Victoria, Murphy's Romance, Space Cowboys and The Notebook. Did you know James Garner served in the Merchant Marines and then in the California Army National Guard where he would serve in the Korean War and earn two Purple Hearts?

@Bensen32 I added Garner's Purple Hearts to the bio. One was received for a wound from friendly fire. Unfortunately he did not receive that one until 1983. Thanks for the info.
