I'll be away for several hours as I am going into town to do some more work in my classroom. On the way, I plan to stop for lunch as our cupboards are somewhat bare since we haven't shopped in over a week. I plan to do some shopping on the way home. We'll see how far I get in arranging my classroom library. The books were pulled off the shelves in order to allow the bookcases to be moved by the maintenance staff over the summer when they cleaned the carpet. My students did the pulling on the last day of school. There is no telling what order the books wound up in. I'll check back in later and let you know if I made progress.

There is a current war going on over my bookshelves. One daughter (the artist) wants them all organized by colour to create a rainbow effect. The other daughter (the slightly ocd one) wants the non-fiction in dewey decimal order and the fiction by author's last name. I'm somewhere in between. I like my fiction and non-fiction separated and I like things to be in some sort of logical order.

Since I have a limited collection and most are fiction, I shelve them all by author's last name, but they are divided into grade levels using colored dots on the spines.

@SophiaMorros Are you sending your kids to a private school or public? If I can be really nosy, why are you closing your homeschool?

So glad I don't have to worry about organizing new and old books anymore in not large enough bookshelves. Have a good day!

I have not quite filled all my bookshelf space. I will be purchasing a few more books.

@DianneN I can see where using tables would be a problem. I have large built-in cabinets and bookcases as well as 4 donated bookcases - each a different size and color.

@DWDavis Our school provided too many books, but forgot about adding bookcases. I had to use large tables. It was a confusing mess for all of us.

Every time we moved, my favourite chore in the new house was filling my bookshelves. It was like Christmas all over again.

I'm in but the bookshelves were moved. It was fun going through all the books and getting refamiliarized with the titles I do have.

One of my new colleagues is also a mom of one former student and one future student and she was there with them today. They did come and work for me for about 30 minutes until the mom had to leave.

It's coming along. I hope to be set to go before official workdays start so I can spend those days on lesson plans and preparing assignments.
