I wish I could remember the story I read in which one of the characters offered the translation of Mardi Gras as being French for Mow The Grass. The character thought that on the Tuesday of Mardi Gras all the people in France would go out and mow their lawns.
I think I was either in junior high or high school when I read it. I don't remember anything else about the story except this one short bit.
Have you ever had something trivial like this stick in your mind year after year?
The reason I thought of it this morning is that I must leave you now to go Mar di gras in my backyard.

@DWDavisWe celebrate Martedì Grasso (Fat Tuestay) in Italy, it is the last day you can eat some food before the fasting time of Lent. Usually we serve fried pastries and fried food on that day, from which the term FAT Tuesday.
