In today's Did You Know we are talking about two people that actually served in the same country and then played in the same show about the war in that country. It's a show that is one of my favorite shows of all time. I have seen every episode multiple times.
Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo: Better know as Alan Alda or Captain Hawkeye Pierce on M*A*S*H*.
Alan was in the ROTC in college and then went on to serve a year in Fort Benning, GA and did his minimum 6 month tour in the Korean War as a gunnery officer.
He would later play surgeon Captain Hawkeye Pierce in the TV show M*A*S*H* for 11 seasons.
Jameel Joseph Farah: Known as Jamie Farr or as Corporal Maxwell Klinger on M*A*S*H*
Jamie was drafted into the U.S. Army and did basic training in Fort Ord, CA he then served his two years in Japan and Korea in the 1950's. Not a lot is known about his service since her never talked about it.
A little trivia for you. When you see him in M*A*S*H* and you see his dog tags around his neck, those are his real dog tags from his service in the Army. He was on 9 seasons of the 11 total seasons.
Next time on Did You Know we will learn about a bouncer and a rapper.

@Bensen32 I occasionally come across it and it still is enjoyable to watch.

I never got to see MASH for most of its original run. Wilmington only had ABC and NBC at that time and MASH was on CBS. I have now seen most of it and I did see the last few seasons when they first ran.
I did not know either of these stars from the show served.

That is some cool information. I loved Mash and I believe I have watched every episode. Newport Oregon, near where I live, just mourned the passing of David Allen Ogden Stiers, a resident, and a well loved orchestra director. I have been here for five years and did not know he resided here..
