Happy Cousin's day

July 24 is officially Cousin's Day. Not sure who comes up with these days to celebrate but whatever.
Read this on Bing earlier about one of my favorite animals. The meerkat. A clan (also called a mob, gang, or manor) usually contains about 20 or 30 meerkats, but some extended families have 50 or more. Females can detect the odor of their kin and use it to avoid inbreeding. They’re native to southern Africa.
I have seen them in zoos and on Nat Geo. Love how they stand like a little person. So entertaining to watch. Made me smile to see these meerkat today online.

@CarolDM i dunno if'n they've such 't our zoo?? 'tis been prolly 12 yrs since i've been. i reckon such's o'erdue? 'lways found 't depressin' here 's there's no 'ttempts 'natural lookin' habitats fer any 'f the critters 'n they reside'n cramped quarters.

Meerkats are great, aren't they? I've seen them in zoos too and there have been a couple of good documentaries about them.
