What a beautiful thing - one of the first things on my social media this morning was this video, an interview with a ballerina. What makes this ballerina different, you ask? The fact that she's 77 years old and still dancing.
This charming lady has been dancing 7 decades.
In the video she states that she thinks that ballet "teaches more than just dance, it teaches respect". I agree. And as I got to thinking - I think this is true of any creative or artistic form. Music, acting, other forms of dance, wood work, metal sculpt, jewelry, sewing, painting, photography, … these are some art forms I can list off the top of my head - there are many more - are about more than just that skill. Patience, hand eye co-ordination, meeting various types of people, communication skills, all things that any art form could possibly teach in addition to the skill itself.
Oh and ! you're never too old to do something you love in some form or another. This society puts way too much value on youth. Not that youth is a negative, either - for my young friends - just that it is a stage in life that like all others has it's positives and negatives and is neither better nor worse than any other.
That's my philosophical post for the day :-)

She truly is an amazing human! She is doing well. She is a great inspiration.
Here's a video for "Pretty Ballerina", a beautiful sentimental ballad by "The Left Banke" (USA 1966). The music works very well with the animation, borrowed ...

That is an unfortunate attitude, to undervalue the older folks. They have life experience, which alas, only comes from age and experience.

That is very interesting. That is a very healthy way to put it that one is never too old to do something they love.

so many people should have "life is too short not to do what you want to do" and "it's never too late to start doing what you love doing now" quotes in their mind. amazing.
