A new program called equine assisted training (EAT) which began in Columbia University is growing in leaps and bounds to assist military persons who have served who are dealing with mental health issues like stress to find a way to relive some of the mental anguish.
The horses are retired from their line of work in horse racing and other lines of work.
Both the war veterans and the horses will benefit from their friendship since the horse will be able to live a longer life assisting a human being who needs to have a special friend to get them through the storms of life.

@Deepizzaguy I guess it's the interacting with a non-judgemental living thing that helps.

My late grandmother was very friendly with a horse that she owned in her farm in Panama's interior section.

It is nice to see that horses who are getting ready to leave the world are not given a new lease on life by helping our war veterans.

Oh that is so neat! Horseback riding is so peaceful and it is good for the horses to not just sit (or stand) around waiting to die.

Both parties win since the horse is now in service of a war veteran who now finds a companion for life.

That is a good question since I am more into dogs and cats than horses.
