Busy Day and I'm Whooped

Our day started with an appointment with the social worker at the Mental Health Clinic. My mom didn't know exactly why we were going there since she saw one of the doctors there last Thursday. I just told her the social worked asked for her to come in and talk to her.
My mom was receptive to the talk and cooperative. Then the talk shifted to the meltdown she had on Friday that was centered on paranoia, specifically with my bother killing her. At that point she got up and said she was leaving. Ms. Susan was able to calm her down and make her realize that she was there to help her, everyone there at the clinic was there to help her and me, her daughter was trying to help her.
As the conversation shifted to getting her back into her house she relaxed and started talking. She admitted that my brother has threatened her. I was given some resource sheets to follow up with the Legislative Office of Elderly Protection. I filled out the online application this morning before I hopped on MyLot. So, I got that little bit of business started.
Susan asked if we were seeing the doctor today. I told her no, but if she was available, that I thought it would be a good idea. Susan agreed and we waited to see her doctor there. She likes both Ms. Susan and her doctor and talks pretty openly with them.
The bottom line is I have to now go through another office. I have reports filed also with Elderly Abuse. Now reports at Elderly Protection office. Hopefully, these reports will be handled soon and not 6 months from now.
We had a late lunch and then headed down the street to the Social Security office. We got mom's check re-routed for deposit to her new bank account and also ordered a new copy of her social security card, which has been lost.
It was a long an busy day, but we did get some things accomplished and are moving in the right direction.

@crazyhorseladycx That's true. The social worker and I were talking the other day about how dumb forging the checks where. She (gf) thinks she has power of attorney. That doesn't mean she can sign mom's checks with mom's name. If she had power of attorney she would go to the bank and add her name to the account. That's the correct way to do it.

Glad to hear that she calmed down and did talk. Hope things move fast now for you. She needs to be in her own home as long as possible.

@kareng I dont know why but parents seem to want to trust their sons completely. And not all can be trusted.

I look forward to the day when your mom is in her house and your brother is out of the picture. Good luck with getting things straightened out.
