Not So Sure Now

With the first of the two pans of the new Pensacola Bay Bridge (AkA the 3 mile Bridge) Sunday evening many people are becoming more leery about going across the new span all the old bridge traffic is divirted later in the week onto the new bridge so the old bridge so the old can be torn down to build the west bound span. People are getting leery about crossing for several reasons as they are going to have 2 lanes going each way with another lane for emergencies on a bridge designed for 3 lanes of one way traffic. There were cracks (though said to be fixed in the new bridge, the last half mile span or so went in too fast in many opinions as they rush to get it done and now there are rumors that most that were working on the bridge had never done bridge work. So there are many thinking of taking one of the other two routes especially if they are going to towards the other end of the county as if your destination is the end you will only add about 5 to 10 miles in travel (and if you take interstate to 87 which takes you back towards the coast you'll save on timing). The people I ride with to Friday night meeting are discussing the way we want to go (another way is to go half way down the interstate and go down and cross East Bay bridge which carries a hefty toll both ways as has no lighting going over it's two plus mile span). Another reason we are leery the new bridge is higher above the water than the current and is not well like. I guess I will see next Friday how we go as we may try the new bridge the first time since it will still be daylight. We shall see

I think crossing most bridges in this country lately is a leap of faith especially with the lack of repairs on older bridges. I think about it every time I cross

That is a long bridge! I hope it holds up during the week with other traffic and hopefully will be fine for you by Friday. I doubt they’d let people travel an unsafe bridge.

Your faith and trust in God will be in full force when you cross the new bridge.

I love bridges, Don`t worry they have to be inspected by the state for safety.
