Has anyone heard of this author or this book? I finished this book in about 2 days and it’s been a while since I have gotten into anything so much like that. It was really good! This is a true story of one 45 year old lady, unhappy with her marriage and life, and after a divorce she chooses to “backpack” through small villages, live as a nomad, meet people, learn about their culture. She travels alone to Bali, Indonesia, Mexico, Israel, New Zealand, Galápagos Islands, back to Bali, meeting all ranges of people and staying cheaply in host’s rooms or backpackers hostels. She is a children’s book writer and she survives on her royalties (I believe she says she survives on less than 15,000 a year, because most of the places she travels to are developing countries). She flies home in between to see her family, and invites some her family to visit her. I really enjoyed reading this book and it astounded me someone would uproot their life like that. But what an experience that must be! I would love to try that later in life but don’t think I would ever have the guts. Or the extra money. Have you read this one? Do you think you could do what she does? Or have you read anything else good lately?

It takes a special kind of person (I think) to uproot your life and go on a quest to find yourself. Sounds like an interesting book and your review sounds a bit like the book "Eat, Pray , Love" which I read and enjoyed.
