This story shows how one community cares for the welfare of animals in Newton Massachusetts when a racoon who had the misfortune of having his head trapped between the bars of a sewage great for a while which must have made the racoon very uncomfortable. It was a good thing that a bicycle rider who saw what was happening to the poor creature contacted the Newton Fire Department so they make an attempt to rescue the poor creature. What happened next was that it was harder for the firefighters to free the raccoon from its trap since using soap and water failed. The group of eight persons who spent two hours to free the raccoon. The firefighters received help from a local animal rescue team who sedated the raccoon so they could free him from his trapped state. After the raccoon was free, he was taken to a local rehabilitation center where he will be healed from his wounds before he will be released to his home once again. Despite the trouble that the firefighters had trying to free the raccoon since it was their first time, they said if they had to do these kinds of rescues, they will come to rescue animals and well as humans who need their help. That is so sweet of them.

That is very important that people take care of wild animals who get stuck in human things.

Most of the time, soap and water can free a raccoon from a trap. In the case it failed.

I think Americans are known for being caring for animals. I think that is good because they really need to be cared for and learn to co-exist with them. Helping them to live their lives to.

A person who loves animals is surely someone who loves humans, especially his family. God loves people who have compassion.

That is the silliest thing I ever saw. Just shows the poor raccoon wasn't able to realize he could not get through that little hole. I am just glad he did not choke himself.

Raccoon's are aggressive? I mean since they had to sedate him. I hope he didn't got much wounds and will heal soon. I do appreciate someone's ownership of calling fire fighter helped to save raccoon's life.

I guess that the animal rescue team wanted to have the raccoon take a nap so they could safely remove him from his trap without harming him.
