Teacher Workday 4 is No More

The nice part about today was that I didn't have to go to work until 1 pm. The reason is we had Open House this afternoon from 3-6 pm. 3 hours of smiling politely, shaking hands, and telling parents how much I am looking forward to teaching their child in the coming year. Open House did go well. All but 3 of my registered students showed up. I also had the chance to see lots of former students. 2 of the students who didn't show I knew wouldn't be there. Both families are out of state. Why the third didn't come, I don't know. I only have 2 new to the school students in my class this year. One has sisters who've already spent a year at the school. The other is completely new to the area. The second one is one of those who didn't show. The rest of the students and parents know me. Many of them have already had students in my class last year of the year before. The kids seem excited about having Mr. D for a teacher. I'm excited, too. I think it's going to be a good year.
