Acrylic nails are very bad for our health. / myLot

As I age, my nails are becoming frail and not as beautiful as they once were. I have tried painting them but they don´t look as they did when I painted them when I was young. I have been envying for some time the nails that all the women in TV shows have. But today I read that acrylic nails can be very dangerous for our health. They cause real nails underneath to dissolve, fingers to get itchy and there is even a possibility of cancer. I once put artificial nail years ago and I confess they were beautiful. Never knew this. I use to get my nails done quite a bit with acrylic but now don’t have the money to do it anymore I might get some of those press on ones because they have some nice ones. As for them ruing your nails you have to know how to do them and also how to remove them rightand don’t wear them for a long period of time .

I never put artificial nails, I know that they are dangerous. My nails grow so fast, I only use a nail enamel in a light color, that is all I use.

Lately, I only use a transparent enamel so that they are harder.

No, I had no idea that acrylic nails could be a health hazard. I glued on artificial finger nails, years ago. Now, I just polish my own nails once in a while.

I also put on artificial nails over 10 years ago. They looked beautiful. But I had the feeling that I could do nothing with such hands. So, after they came off, I never put another again.

I haven't heard of it. My nails are always very soft and I use gel to strengthen them.

I agree with you. I think medical stuffs will somewhat have an effect on our health. It just depends on whether it is serious or not. This is why I don't like to paint my nails.

This is worse than paint. It is gluing acrylic nails over your own nails.
