I want to go to the pool, but I don't feel I am able to go

This summer I was going to the dentist. That was the only place I visited. Other people go on holiday. And I am not able to go to the pool. The pool is outside the town. I am feeling weak, even if I eat many times per day. Anxiety makes me feel in this way. I can't be relaxed. My body is always very stressed out. I don't have the ability to relax now. I am feeling weak and mentally exhausted. I would like to prepare to go to the pool, but I don't know what to do. I feel I am not prepared. Anxiety makes me feel weak and sick. Should I go to the pool? Even if I don't feel I am prepared? Can I prepare my body to overcome this fear? I fear open spaces and the pool is outside the town.

Some go to the pool and just dangle their feet for a bit. Little by little, you might become strong enough to go more often.

Can you get a friend to come with you?

It’s still up to you though. Just rest for awhile and think about it.

I have anxiety disorder so i know exactly how you feel. I only go to places that are local to me and yes i struggle. Do you have agoraphobia? That is what i have. I can't even go under tunnels. I start to panic.

Yes. I have agoraphobia. Do you take medicine for your anxiety?

@dya80dya i have that also. I was taking paroxetine for a while and then stopped. I am not on any meds. I am trying now to learn to do things myself. It is not easy at all. What i do is a drink a vitamin water and a bottle of water when i go outisde. I walk close to home. After a good 20 minutes i start to feel more normal. The more you stay outside the better you begin to feel.

@Ladanger Exposure doesn't work for me. For years I went outside, very close to my home. Each time I feel awful.

I think you should go to the pool. I was at aquapark and it was amazing! You can go with someone. I think if you travel with some person you will have less fear.

We have a pool right here in the apartment complex. I go almost every day and it is wonderful. . . at least until the screaming children show up.
