Book sale at the library

One of our local libraries is moving, and before they close the old library they are selling some of their books. The book sale started months ago. I decided to visit it today. I was afraid that all of the good books were gone, but there were still plenty of books left. The book sale was in a separate room next to the library. The librarian told me where it was, and I was positively surprised when I saw the room. There were about 20 boxes full of books Some of them were on the tables, and the rest were on the floor. There were plastic bags next to the boxes, and a bag full of books cost $3. I found 11 books. I picked 7 novels and 2 short story collections. I also bought a novel for my husband and a book about Ireland.

We had something similar at our library. But I have a problem with libraries in general. I don't like reading books which too many people have already read before me. One I borrowed a book which more than 20 people had already read as I could see from the stamps inside. Arrgh! I cover the book covers so that I don't have to touch them directly but still find them a bit repulsive. I prefer buying used books on amazon. There one can often find books which have been read only once.
Yes, a lot of people touch the library books. At my library the popular books have long waiting lists, often more than 100 people, so 20 people doesn't sound bad to me. I use the library a lot, but can't say that I have never thought about the number of people who have touched the books before me. I don't want to think too much about that. It is not a nice thought, but I have to accept if I want free books.
