And then there's this...

A new car. I didn't buy it. I don't have the money to buy a new car outright, nor do I have the money to buy a slightly used car outright... not yet. But one of our vehicles was on its last wheels so waiting was not really an option. So I have leased the car. After 4 years I can either buy it out or turn it in for another leased vehicle. I would always have a relatively new vehicle but always have payments ($141 bi-monthly right now). I really love this car, though. I don't do a whole lot of driving but having the wifi connection to my phone giving me access to gps and hands free phone access was a priority. It's a 2019 Honda Civic XL. Because it is leased, any problems with the car are not my problems but Honda's. Do you believe they only make this car in a handful of colours - white, black, gray, red and electric blue. I never want another red vehicle again (too many accidents). My daughter has a Honda in the blue. I didn't want black or white so this was my only option. But I'm happy with it. I just have to hope that with the help of my inheritance money finances won't become too much to bear. The second house we bought (my husband's parents') and now the possible sale of my husband's company which could or could not have an affect. I don't want to lose this house. My husband is more attached to his parents' house and where he grew up than he is to the house we raised our own family in. I'm going to try not to worry and force myself to focus on my writing and maybe have an income.

Now, is that grey or blue? It looks a bit of both in that pic. Drive carefully.

It's more of a charcoal grey. They had a gorgeous dark blue, like the colour of the ocean in Hawaii, but it was on an SUV. I so wanted that colour but there is a certain demand for car colours and the ones I listed are it. Go into any parking lot and you'll see a sea of black and white.

@patgalca I know what you mean. They seem to go in cycles. Back in the '80s, all you ever saw was a silver grey hatchback. Didn't matter what make it was. Henry Ford purportedly said that you could get a Model T in any color, as long as it was black.

The first vehicle I bought new, with cash, was when I got my insurance settlement from my employer when I got fibromyalgia and they didn't want to give me disability. It took five years of litigation and then mediation to get the payout. This is the second new car I have bought. All the other vehicles throughout the years have been used. This one is thanks to the money my parents saved for us kids to have after they left this earth.

Thanks, I love it! And I love driving it. It was so cool to be able to just touch a button on my steering wheel and call my daughter while on my way to the grocery store.

That's a very nice looking car. I leased cars for years and it was nice having a new car every few years. Good luck with your new wheels

That is a good option to always have a new car. I need a new used car myself.

Yes, but then you are always making monthly (or bi-monthly payments). It is quite possible I will buy out the lease after 4 years. It will depend on finances. A lot can change in 4 years.
