Are paid online sites disappearing?

When I first became aware of online earning there seemed to be plenty of different opportunities but over the years I notice things are changing. Most of the sites I originally belonged to have gone and although others took their place they haven't really lasted long and many of them ran off with the earnings of their members. The one thing that annoys me about these sites is the fact they don't tell us. We just visit one day and they are gone or put in permanent maintenance mode. Why can't they just tell us (as MyLot did at one time) and then everyone is aware of what is going on? I understand it might be embarrassing if they can't pay but I'm sure people would rather know what is happening and respect the admin for being honest.

i never liked knowing that someone was getting deeper into debt just to keep paying me. that's why i like sites that start by paying low. they tend to last longer.

I agree. Most sites that fail start with high earnings to attract people and then find they cannot cope with the flood of members that come along and need payment.

@hereandthere Some people are desperate for money so I guess they will try anything.

@sprite1950 and some do just that - they hop from site to site. strike while the iron is hot, as the saying goes.

I used to belong to three or four writing sites at one time but most of them have gone.

So, we'd better watch our steps not to be attracted with what they offer.

Sometimes it's hard to tell, a new site opens and offers good money so lots of people join and then they find they can't afford to pay people so just disappear.

Too many sites cheat their users. They attract people paying more. They pay for some months. When more people join and they start having good earnings, they stop paying and disappear. I like myLot because they share what they earn, they do not pay more only to attract users.

That's right, earnings can be slow here at times but at least we know the site won't disappear.

@LadyDuck I found the beginning of the week quite good but the last couple of days have been slower even though I've put in the same amount of effort.

@sprite1950 This is true, we do not get rich here, but at least this is a honest site.

I think a lot of sites end up that way.

@JustBhem I don't think they mean to scam people but once a site grows it gains a lot of people that need paying and they run out of money.

Most go into scam because admin want all Money for himself. Others go into down since many visitors try cheat system and they often make it.

Yes I think a lot of sites face cheaters, Why do some have to spoil it for the rest?

I have been gone awhile and was so thrilled to find mylot still here. I am in the process of going thru my survey places and such and will be surprised to see them if they are there. Was nice to be able to come back and find money still in my account too. Lots when you are inactive take the money.

I still had $0.97 here when I came back. I don't really like doing surveys. It drives me crazy if I finish a long one and then the survey crashes or I get disqualified so although I do a few on Instagc I will only attempt the short ones. Yes many sites will zero your earnings when you are inactive.

@sprite1950 I saw your post and had to come inside and read it. I agree with you why can't they tell people they will not be around. My problem is that I cannot get into sites because I do not qualify or they do not come to Israel.

I agree with your observation. This month alone two of the used to be legit sites that I'm working disappear like a ghost.

It's annoying when they take our earnings with them.
