Buying Greenland

The word is that the Donald is working at our country purchasing Greenland. It doesn't seem to matter to this POTUS that nobody from Greenland or Denmark has said Greenland is for sale, or that nobody has named a price. As usual, Trump doesn't even seem to have considered that the population of Greenland may not want to change their citizenship to the United States, and give up all the freedoms, healthcare, and educational benefits they are fortunate to receive from their Danish government. Perhaps the Greenlanders would resent their already high taxes going to fund our already overpriced, and overused military. Trump only considers the feelings of the wealthy and the stupidest poor people who would actually still vote for him. I wonder if part of wanna-be Dictator-n-Chief's "rationale" for ignoring the current global warming disastor was so the ice would melt faster in Greenland so he could make a more comfortable climate for summer golf? Perhaps he wants to be able to point to our latest acquisition as a benefit of global warming, whether it is or not? All of the above might be true. But we can't discount that if the US were to somehow acquire this great land the white/nordic percentage of our country's population would surge, Perhap's Trump assumes that they would all vote Republican, because they're white. I doubt this is true. Greenland would be a tremendous national asset to the U.S. It's beautiful, rich in natural resources, and it's location would be yet another strategic assets. From what I know about our Idiot and Chief, he hasn't considered one of them. He also hasn't considered, for the umpteenth time, that his desire for his wish to come true, is absurd.

He doesn't read, or consider anything but himself, but strangly, he's not dumb. I wish he were. Years ago, I read "The Art of the Deal" a few things about Trump came out in the book that made some sense. I liked that Trump thought polls and focus groups were a waste of money. Trump metered human feelings by asking cab drivers and other common folks he met questions about current affairs. He based his opinions, and sales points on what the commonest people believe. Such practices may not keep Trump in office, but they did help put him there, along with Putin, of course. One thing is certain, smart, dumb, or non-human, the U.S. has never been under more of a threat for destruction than it is now, under Trump, the GOP, and the overly emotional non-thinkers. Not even in the civil war. I'm scared.

@jprtist most of the country is. He didn't even write that book. He had a ghost writer do it and that guy has come out and blasted Trump many times over the past few years.

@NJChicaa You're right, I know he had a ghost writer, I've watched him on TV many times. That doesn't mean the writer didn't base large parts of the book on interviews and time he spent with Trump. I believe Trump doesn't trust polls or market research. Another interesting anecdote, a Republican veteran related to me was that many years ago, Trump was on Johnny Carson. Trump was still a Democrat when Carson asked Trump if he had Presidential aspirations. Trump replied "no", but if he did ever run, he'd run as a Republican, because Republican's will believe anything. I'd say, based on the evangelical support, he was right about that too.

My mother taught me to never discuss politics or religion in public so I don't! (But don't tell her I agree with you!)

I don't think the not nearly 60 000 inhabitants on Greenland (most of which are Inuits) would make any difference in the US elections. Greenland's huge but there's hardly anyone living there. And if anyone should get it, it should obviously be us. The Danes took in around 1400, we should obviously take it back. Not buy :-) I think he wants Greenland purely for the locations.
