Signs of an Early Fall

Yesterday I noticed all the leaves falling from the trees in our yard. There was a slight breeze but it reminded me of a Fall day where leaves would be drifting down toward the ground. I immediately thought of an early Fall. Then as I was walking in the yard I happened to notice a couple of red leaves on the ground. Bingo. Yes, I do believe we will be having an early Fall this year. The third sign I have noticed is that the fog is back in the early mornings. This is another happening that is usually reserved for September. Last, I mentioned to my husband last month that the chickens were going through molt earlier than usual. This usually doesn't happen until late September or October. Another sign that Fall will be visiting us soon. Have you noticed any signs of Fall in your area? Cooler temperatures? Pretty colored leaves? Something else? Photo: My own

When the rain blew thru yesterday it dropped to 78. That didn't last though as it was back to 88 after an hour and a half.

NO! The sun is burning the leaves here, and lack of rain. I am not in a hurry for fall or winter.

We have rain in the forecast for the next seven days or so. I'm not looking forward to that or to winter...of which I really hate.

@andriaperry I would hate to live down south in triple digit heat; but I would still take it instead of below zero temps and a ton of snow.

Not here. My chickens are nice and fluffy and the horses are still sleek and shiny.

@kareng I have seen them do it. Usually it just is not as noticeable. I mostly go by the horses coats. When the shine starts disappearing I know they are growing the winter hair.

New England is know for its beautiful leaf colors. On our way to Boston, I noticed a few trees beginning to change, but it’s still too early to enjoy the full effect.

I haven't noticed any signs; but I just hope that it's not going to be a bad winter. I hate the heat; but I hate the cold even more! Have a good day, Karen!

I am there with you on hating cold weather. I want to move to a tropical island where it stays warm all year.

We don't have fall. We have only two seasons, the dry and the rainy.

I'm not sure I would like that too much. We only have a few days of both Spring and Fall here in the southern part of the U.S. so not too different from you.

@kareng During spring, the flowers are blooming and during the fall, leaves are falling. Don't they? In that case, we do experience them too here in our country. But they're not recognized as a part of our seasons. We only have dry and rainy seasons. No more.

We do actually have a lot of yellow leaves around..The temperatures do not indicate fall will be arriving anytime soon, but it kind of looks it in places.

It is the same way here with the temperatures. We have been in mid to low 90's. One change is the big drop with rain. Instead of just dropping a few degrees, twice they have dropped 20 degrees down into the high 70's. I think Fall is just around the corner.

If you take notice of what is happening in the natural world, you get many clues as to the change of seasons.

We are still hot and humid here also. We have rain in the forecast now for the next 7 days so it will be interesting to see what happens to our temperatures after this system gets through here.

We are low 90's but temperatures are diving with the rain showers and going down 20 degrees. Also leaves are falling and turning colors.
