My visit to Maine today included a stop at a beautiful village on the coast, Kennebunkport. If that town sounds familiar, it’s because former president George H.W. Bush had a residence there. As I mentioned in a previous reply to my other discussion about the great state of Maine, I haven’t been to the Atlantic Ocean since 2008, so it’s only natural that I’d head for the ocean. Kennebunkport served the need quite well. In my short time there I found it to be an almost fairytale-like village. It’s small, quaint (a town photo should be next to that word in the dictionary!), with friendly people walking, biking, and driving along the road next to the ocean. And oh, was that water beautiful! That’s an amazing thing about the ocean, or nature in general: you can see the “same thing” from different locales, and it’ll be completely different. In this case, the ocean was a beautiful blue, and the beach was populated with tourists (like me) and locals enjoying the exceptional weather on a lovely late summer Saturday. I already want to go back!

Looks cold. is the water warm there too, much more north that I ever been? Know Atlantic much warmer than the Pacific. Sounds like a neat trip.

I didn’t dip my toes. There were people wearing hoodies over their bathing suits, if that tells you anything....

@crossbones27 — my car thermometer said it was in the low 70s (71-73 the entire time I was there). It’s relative. People who live in Louisiana are used to the syrup they call “humidity.”
