Didn't automatically get the greepoints redemption at my supermarket

There is one supermarket I shop at where you earn 10 points (called greenpoints) for every dollar you spend. And then you can redeem those points to save on some things. I was looking for juice to buy and saw pink cranberry juice on sale for $2.99 as opposed to its regular price of $3.99. But then there was also a promo that for 300 greenpoints I can get this juice for $1.49. That's a great deal. And I have way more than 300 of them on my account so I could redeem with no issues. I assumed that I would automatically be deducted the 300 greenpoints and would be charged $1.49 for the juice. I was wrong. And I only realized that when I left the store and looked at my receipt where the price for the juice was $2.99. If I was alone I'd have gone back to the store and to customer service to get this resolved. But I was with hubby, so didn't do that. Lesson learned! If I wanna redeem my greenpoints I should always tell the cashier. But I wonder why it doesn't pop up on their screen that the item has a greenpoints deal and then prompt the cashier to let me know and ask if I wanna use it.
