Birthday Parties

Families are so different. We had only two birthday parties that were celebrated with guests other than our immediate family members. We had one when we turned 8 (as I recall) and 16. Those were big parties. There others were just our little family and gifts we had made and of course cake. What is the tradition in your family.

It's just the two of us; so I will make a cake for my husband, no gifts. He goes out and usually buys a cake for me, no gifts.

So did you only have parties at those ages and why not other ages? Do you celebrate your birthday now?

We had two parties with friends. When we turned 8 and when we turned 16.

My family used to celebrate Birthdays together. We had four birthdays in March at one time and so two would be celebrated on the first week of March and two on the last.
We never had anybody other than family celebrate it with us. In later years I'd celebrate separately with friends.

That's interesting. In my extended family we have 14 birthdays in November. I think we should have one party on a random day in November now.

14 birthdays in one month, that is quite a lot of birthdays.
