our fellow mylotter, birju1988, posted about his favorite lunch, "Bhindi Sabji". the other items on his plate were: "banana, dal and roti." from the picture he shared, and using context clues, and some words i'm already familiar with, i can guess which is which, more or less. however, out of curiosity, i still right-clicked on each word to confirm if i'm correct. i know roti is bread and when i searched roti, the result showed roti from wikipedia. when i searched dal, the result also showed dal from wikipedia. he did write 'ladies finger' after bhindi, which i know is another name for okra, so i was expecting when i right-clicked on bhindi, the result would also be for bhindi. but the result was okra from wikipedia. it was the same with 'sabji'. the result showed vegetable from wikipedia. do you also get curious about what you read here and look them up? and if you don't mind, since mylot is an international site, i've always wondered: what language does your computer use? ours has always been english (of course, we can also search in filipino and other dialects)

Ah, am afraid most if not all my stuff online is done in English. I'm really not good at any other language. I learned something new. Okra also called Ladyfingers

to be honest, the lady fingers i knew growing up were cookies (or what we call here biscuits). and i thought all along that okra was a filipino word, but since joining online sites, i was surprised that it's also called okra in other countries!

Mine in English but I do search for the words in Sanskrit and other Indian languages. Internet can come so handy at times.

Yes, i would always look for the English term of those posted in another language such as Hindu. Besides, i would also search for an image of it to complete my curiosity of what it really is.

@hereandthere Yes, there are times I do not understand how they translated and you are right they do not translate correctly. One has to know what is missing to correct it. My computer is in English and Hebrew.

At least it tries it's best to make a good translation. Maybe some day we'll have a translator like the one on star trek.
