An ice cream shop in North Texas whose employees have special needs

An ice cream store in Texas that is successful with special needs employees

I have to give credit where credit is due to the founder of Howdy Homemade Ice Cream store Tom Landis who is doing his part to give employees who work in his store located in Dallas Texas a chance to work for him since due to their disability of being autistic or having Down's Syndrome, it is difficult for them to find an employer who is willing to hire them. One store that Landis owns had 13 employees who range in age from 16 to 31 years of age who all have special needs. Landis has learned that despite his employees being autistic or having Down's Syndrome, they have great work skills to the point that his store is having a superb time selling ice cream to his clients. In my view, we should never judge one person who has special needs who we believe cannot be a productive employee since all they want is a chance to work and make the world a better place.

That's awesome he's giving them a chance. I've seen many wonderful people with Down's Syndrome. My great-granddaughter is 25% Downs Syndrome. It makes the world look brighter knowing they have a chance to make it a better place. I love his smile.

Mr. Landis has experience with children with special needs. It is nice of him to give people with special needs their place to work and learn skills.

It is an excellent job. In Venezuela, the legislation requires employers and corporations to enter disabled or special people in their work environments, precisely I live next to a school for special people, there they work with all kinds of mental, motor and psychological disabilities. So my cousin, who is a special education teacher, always tells me that depending on the degree, for example, of the Down Syndrome that a person has, this could be trained even at university level and I have seen very competent receptionists and secretaries with this syndrome , it should be extensive to all places in the world, since they are very intelligent and sociable ..
