oh....my....goodness!

While my dad was in hospital, I decided to try and sell the lounge room mat ( or rug. I honestly don't know the difference ) as I know he wanted to get rid of it and I did indeed sell it. But I couldn't believe how the floor looks without it. After I rolled up the mat I couldn't stop looking at the floor! It really sticks out! I'm sure I don't need to pin point where the mat was. Look how clean it looks! But then look how awful the rest of the carpet looks! This mat has never moved. So I can understand how the carpet underneath it is so clean but seriously....makes the rest of the carpet look so bad! We have been in this house for over 10 years so it's not exactly a surprise. It was requested to have the carpet cleaned but the landlord won't care about that unless he is selling his house to others.

That's why one sweeps things under the rug.

@amitkokiladitya I imagine it would be. Especially for the whole house.

@amitkokiladitya That would be very expensive. Our best option is our landlord to hire professional carpet cleaners. Which isn't likely to happen.

@VivaLaDani13 this is tough. Try to do it yourself

You might have to shampoo the carpet to get it all back to one shade.

@VivaLaDani13 That's horrible. Is there a housing commission you could turn him in to?

@kareng Nah. He is just being a typical careless landlord. He isn't causing us any harm. He is just selfish and greedy is all.

@kareng I agree. Well something would need to be done but I can pretty much almost guarantee it won't happen unless we were moving. Our landlord couldn't care less about us. He has made that pretty clear.

I guess you should clean the matt and the rugs (probably at your expense) and decide not to sell .

@marguicha The mat was already sold. It's the carpet that needs a clean.

@VivaLaDani13 If it is done professionally, it will be expensive. But if you are not planning to move, it is worth it.

@marguicha Exactly but like you said, it's expensive doing it professionally and we are hoping it can be through our landlord.

@VivaLaDani13 That is a long time to be in that house. That is too bad that the landlord will not clean the rest of the rug.

@Hannihar It sure is! And yeah he is a very cheap dude. There's been a few occasions where he will come to fix something here because he wouldn't spend money for a professional and he ended up making the situations worse.

@Hannihar I completely agree with you! I hear so many stories about uncaring landlords. And like you said, it's all about money.

@VivaLaDani13 I am sorry he does not want to care about his tenants and it is all about money. Landlords can make things worse instead pf better.

May be it is less expensive to buy two new mats than to have them professionally cleaned. I would look around.

@LadyDuck I agree. We do have two mats ready to place over so I'm sure that will make it look better.

@amadeo We will for sure. On the left side of the photo are two mats. We are thinking of moving them up a bit to cover the area where the old mat was.

That's quite a contrast between the sections of carpet! I don't even think you could get the other parts of the carpet as clean as that, even with professional carpet cleaners! Maybe a new rug would be an easier option!

@moffittjc lol I agree! And yeah there are two rugs that we have and hopefully that will do the trick!

My mother had bought me a rug for the front door and my cat keeps wanting to play with it. So she bought me a small one. I am going to give away that rug this weekend. I hope I can put it in a box for them to take,

You might need a new one to cover it or get the whole thing professionally cleaned. Otherwise it will stand out and look uneven.

@arunima25 We can't afford getting it professionally cleaned. But we do have a replacement to cover it all up.
