I cannot believe that there are not places where they offer free food to those in need. The big supermarkets throw tons of food every day, it is a SHAME!

@db20747 They should know because if you ask to your local Town Hall they can address you to the closest to your area. They can also call a Charity and ask them.

I have heard this, but there are places that can help with food, maybe every where doesn't have a food kitchen, or shelter or a church that will give canned goods. There are many things here, a church that serves lunch, and so many more.

It's a shame but I think they are left with no other alternative. Hunger compels them to do so and maybe they are not aware of programs that help them. Many social welfare programs don't reach the needy due to various reasons.

Many places have food banks and the like for the struggling hungry. If someone NEEDS them, there's no shame in using them. Maybe a lot of people don't know they're available? Anyway, much better than eating dog food, in fact, eating dog food can be dangerous to humans (depending on ingredients.)
