Most seven year old children would accept an offer from Make A Wish to take a vacation to spend a good time at a Disney amusement park.
In the case of seven year old Gabriel Smith who spent one year at a children's hospital shortly after he was born needed a bone transplant.
Thanks to the efforts of the hospital, they found a 19 year old man in Germany named Dennis Gutt who was willing to assist Gabriel to have his bone marrow transplant just after his first birthday.
The Smith family were able to find out the name of the bone marrow donor through the Be The Match registry two years ago.
The Make A Wish Foundation was able to arrange for Dennis to travel from Germany to meet in person Gabriel in Chicago recently.
Dennis and Gabriel are now the best of friends due to Dennis willing to assist Gabriel have a bone transplant six years ago that saved his life.
My view is that Gabriel knows that thanking the man who saved his life is more important than visiting a Disney amusement park at this time.
