It's water change day and I was draining half of the water in this small Aquarium when disaster struck. I didn't realize that one of the small got sucked in the suction tube and straight into the sink
I hate myself being careless today, I didn't have time to stop the small fish from going down further.
Now there's only five of them and one small fish left.
Have a nice day

My suction hose has a guard at the tip, prevents fish or sand from getting sucked, also has a pump so no need to fill with water or actually suck it, costs just over 2 dollars at lazada or shopee and 1 dollar shipping, perhaps you should get one, it will make work faster and more pleasant.

I was thinking of buying this one too but I felt this was a bit too long for my tank. I bought the smaller version but my problem was that there are times that sand gets sucked away from time to time especially when the debris is entangled with the sand. But it was just a few pieces of sand that I was able to return back to the tank.

@rsa101 you can use it to stir the water, debris is lighter than sand, it could be dismantled to get the sand back, btw I don't siphon out direct to the drainage but rather to a 4 to 6 gallon pet bottle then flush it down the toilet. I don't put sand in my tank for easier maintenence, you could opt for larger pebbles, gravel or marbles, if you prefer to have something under, they are easier to clean than sand.

Hello @louievill If you have seen my last few discussion, that suction tube is identical to yours. the trouble is the fish was way too small. Nope, not mine, like what I said in my last post about this suction tube, I might going to buy a new one. I don't put sand anymore either I have gotten rid of it months ago.

Hello @kareng I was hoping to just care for them until some one gives birth to new fish. It was so sad.

Thing like this really happens. It is kind of dangerous to really do the siphoning that has no protection at the end of your siphon. I decided to do my water change last night too. So far there were no casualties but I was always on the lookout for the shrimp that hides somewhere around. Right after the water change the blue shrimp showed up to me again maybe to let me know that he still there.

Hello @rsa101 I think the suction hose has been at it's due and need myself of a new replacement. Your shrimp is still bigger compare to my baby fish that got sucked in.

@Letranknight2015 fingerling are really small. My shrimp can also get through it but I guess he’s good at avoiding it.

Hello @ZedSmart well, Nemo ended up in the Ocean, this one ended up in the Septic tank, which was really the end of the road for the fish.

Sometimes this happens. I have a double bigger than your fish aquarium. There are 12 fish in it. We cannot always clean it but we clean it every fourth and fifth month, so we have also put a larger filter in it so that the water is more Don't be dirty

Hello @Starkinds The bigger aquarium has a top filter which prevents it from having algae. I'm thinking of buying another one for this aquarium, I've had it with this green stuff of theirs.
