When do you decorate for holidays?

Its early September. Its still summer but my house is ready for fall but its not quite time yet. My daughter brought up our fall decorations but we've decided that its too early to put our decorations outside. Inside she can be as crazy as she wants to be. We love Halloween here so we are already in the decorating planning stage, but I'm not ready to put it all up. What do you think? How soon do you decorate for holidays? Does the holiday matter? (For example, the decorations stay up longer for Christmas than Valentines day).
