America's Oldest Cabins

One of my favorite youtube channels does Early American Colonial History. Today they dropped a video about log cabins. They would like to make one (they made one in the past) and so took a little tour of a few of the sites of original or reproduction cabins. The exact cabin they were looking for no longer exists but it seems they had fun along the way. I am super excited about this project for them.

The oldest Swiss log cabin is still up, built in 1287 in Schwyz in central Switzerland.

That's incredible. I am sure there are people that maintain it, but I imagine they are using the same techniques that their forefathers did to make the cabin? I am going to go looking for pictures of the cabin.

@LadyDuck I read an article about it just a few minutes ago. It is now used as a museum. The original owners of this home would have been wealthier from what the article I read said.

@ScribbledAdNauseum They keep it, but they do not use modern materials. Here is a photo, like it is, exactly as it was built.
