When 'strangers' come to call

United States

I confess to bein' a tad obsessed with critters that come to visit my lil sanctuary. Take many pics, from e'ery angle humanly possible. Many're not very cooperative 'f my efforts. This lil beauty 'tis a Pine Siskin, a branch 'f the Finch family. Loved watchin' her 's she delicately picked sunflowers, shellin' each carefully. Seems they've a very erratic winterin' behavior, which's prolly why I'd not seen 'em here 'fore. A very grumpy fella came'n gave her the 'what-fer' 'n off they went. Ne'er saw either 'gain, though I watched fer 'em daily. 'lways delighted when these 'strangers' come 'round. Warms my heart that critters feel they can come shelter, food 'n water ~ e'en if'n such's jest fer a lil while.

You manage to get some really lovely photos as birds are difficult to snap. This one is nicely side on so you get a really good view of her.

most kind 'f ya to say, ms. @JudyEv. yes ma'am, some can be quite tricky. i confess to've cheated a bit that winter (2017) 'n 'd some bird food schtuff (such's this sunflower head) out'n the back deck so 'twas close range.

@crazyhorseladycx No harm in a bit of cheating. You'd never get anywhere with animal/bird pictures without a bit of cheating. Herc made himself this hole in the hay bale but when I wanted a photo he only wanted to talk to me. I had to put some bread in the hole so he'd put his head in while I took a photo. :)

yes ma'am :) does that mean we'd be 'birds 'f a feather'? this 'twas december 2017. i cheated a bit 'n 'd this sunflower head'n other feeders here'n the outdoor table - close range to the sunroom. 'twas glad 'twas cloudy when they came ('r i saw 'em?) so's i could get some clear pics.
