My slow cooker saved the day today. Or at least saved my hubby from having hot dogs or some other fast meal tonight. I thought about@wolfgirl569 's recent post about cooking steaks in a slow cooker and my mind went to "slow cooke"r for Wednesday when we will be gone most of the day for a doctor's appointment.
I had taken a pork loin out of the freezer on Monday and it was completely thawed out this morning. I seasoned it up and threw it in the crockpot around 8 am. It got in three hours of cooking before we had to leave. I just took it out of the crock pot and put it into the refrigerator along with all of the juices until we returned home.
We got home around 3:30 and I put the pork loin back into the crock pot along with the juices. I left it until 6 pm.
The pork loin came out super tender and tasty. I paired it up with some creamy corn and peas and carrots. All in all, this was an easy meal to throw together and we all enjoyed it. I didn't have to rush getting dinner tonight or stand up and make myself more tired. I scored a win for dinner tonight.
Do you cook in a crock pot or slow cooker often? What is your favorite recipe for slow cookers?

Not any more. I'm unable to cook anymore; and my husband usually doesn't want to be bothered with cooking.

I make meals in my slow cooker whenever I don't feel like eating right away and let meat and vegetables cook all day. Everything always comes out nice and tender.

I am no cook. My wife is. Sorry for my ignorance. Why is it called slow cooker? We have a rice cooker. How does it differ?

The slow cooker cooks food all day long. Most have Low, Medium and High settings or just Low and High. You put the food in and let it cook all day, hence the name slow cooker. You can turn on when you leave for work and your food is ready when you come home. They are great for roasts and pork loins. There are tons of things you can make in them.

No I haven`t used one in 10 years. I gave up many ways of cooking when I began to prepare to get off grid.
