The Appointment

I was hanging out at the Doctor's office waiting for some test results and another patient out in waiting room came sat next to me. I was reading a magazine and she said “Excuse me, there is something you must know.”
I was taken a little off guard. I didn’t recognize the woman. I didn’t want to appear rude or insensitive. I said, “Well, if it is something you think I must know, go right ahead.”
“You are suffering greatly from mental fatigue. If you don’t make some changes right away you are bound for more misery than you have ever experienced before.” And then she just stared at me. I really didn’t know what to say. The longer I remained silent the closer she leaned in. “Oh, well thank you for that information. Right now I am feeling like I need a little more personal space.” I moved down a chair and put my bag in between us.
I guess I should have built a brick wall because she didn’t recognize or acknowledge that I was putting distance between us for a reason.
“You don’t understand. I can see it in your eyes, your hair and even your tone. You are suffering and I need to help you.”
“I’ll tell you what. When I am called back to finish up with the physician I will let her know of your concern. In the meantime, perhaps a little quiet meditation would help. (I know nothing really about meditation, but I was getting desperate.)
“I have to help you.”
That was it. I was done. I walked up to the reception desk and said, “Please let Jeanette know that I had to leave, she can call me at home with the results.” I looked and the woman was standing right next to me. My irritation suddenly turned to anger. “Lady, you are correct. I am mentally fatigued and if you don’t get away from me and stay away from me, I am going to snap and take it out on you. I make a quick exit and took off in the car. I went the long way home because I was a little concerned she might be following me.
Here’s the sad part. I am still a little concerned because I really don’t understand mental fatigue. So she won. I am going to have to look it up, learn about and check it out. It is the only way to get it out of my head.
I swear, I should never look anyone in the eyes and smile. It seems to empower them right into my space!

I am not certain about the term clairvoyant, can you please explain it to me?

That's not a good excuse to harass some one that has mental fatigue, she definitely took advantage of his situation, such a predator she is.

@Letranknight2015 I think she probably overstepped her bounds and still I wouldn't label her a predator.

@Writingghost I also believe it was well intended. People speak and then can't erase their words.

I assume that to be true as well. I believe it was well intended. It did take me by surprise.

Well it was quite forward. I hope I don't run into her in the grocery store. She might critic my purchases.

What an odd and invasive person! I would never have the courage to speak out as you did! Good for you! I'm sure Carol's post helped.

You should look at the link she sent @LindaOHio, I think it would be great for anyone to enjoy. It was very calming. Give a try.

You know I have to share a link with you. You can always delete it. But we all go through some level of mental fatigue in life. If others can see it, you probably are having a lot of stress. We know you are. And that is ok. Take some deep breaths. Sometimes others do not realize they are invading our space, they simply do not how to help.

@CarolDM What makes you think I would ever dismiss something you sent me? I trust your intentions and your intuitions. I have laughed and watched a video and now I am off to learn about mental fatigue. See how many great and unexpected things happen when we simply communicate. I am going to learn now!

Have you thought about calling security or let the reception know that this woman was harassing you? I think it was not in her business to help you if she's not into the profession of helping you with regards to mental fatigue.
Or maybe she just wants to annoy you long enough for you to leave so she can have her appointment early. What ever it is she was definitely give you a bad day.

They were right there behind the desk listening and giving each other odd looks. I assume she was a patient waiting.

She sounded very spooky to me. I do not blame you for leaving.

That's so strange. Maybe she was just looking out for you but still she went too far. Go ahead and check out about that mental fatigue though, if there is any chance she was correct.
