1984 - Joe Kittinger becomes the first person to fly a gas balloon alone across the Atlantic Ocean.
2000 - Windows releases Windows ME.
1947 - Sam Neil is born. He is a Northern Irish-New Zealand actor, director, producer and vineyard owner. His breakthrough movie was Sleeping Dogs. Other movies: A Cry in the Dark, Dead Calm, The Piano, Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III. TV series - Happy Town, Alcatraz, Peaky Blinders.
1983 - Amy Winehouse is born. She was an English singer and songwriter. Some of her better known songs: Stronger than Me, Rehab, Love is a Losing Game, You Know I'm No Good, Tears Dry on their Own, Body and Soul (a duet with Tony Bennett - see below). She died in 2011.

I did my part to celebrate....I had cream filled donuts this morning from Krispy Kreme.
