I always enjoy visiting Cotton, the rescued barred owl at the local state park. She was found as a baby in the snow and named by the park ranger as Cotton. He said she looked like a ball of cotton.
Thank goodness for these park rangers. Always on the lookout for animals in need. She also has a friend next to her in a separate cage. I will find out more about him/her soon hopefully.

Have you ever seen an owl up close? They can turn their heads all the way around, very cool to see them.

Yeah, once, I should have caught one with my hands, but its a adult Owl...in the morning when I heard some other black and white birds chasing it away from where it slept that night... very big one, and bigger than most hen. nails very long and tick than hen and covered. But because I was holding tablet, it ran around my sitting area and looked at me and flew away, because I don't want to demage my tablet chasing a Owl, what of if I did not catched it, then my gadget is demged with many info stored.

what a beauty! i feel sad though that she's caged. i reckon rehabilitation didn't work, 's oft the case. i'd a close 'ncounter with a snowy owl who'd been caught'n a trap. luckily 'nother hiker came 'long'n we were able to free such. monster talons 'n beak! see some owls 'round here, but 'tis dark 'n they don't let'cha get too close. 've yet to snag a pic 'f such.

@CarolDM found a bald eagle the same back'n the late 70's/early 80's. caught'n a trap. massive wingspan 'n though i thought such'd prolly be the end 'f me. 't seemed to know i 'twas there to help. jest kept lookin' 't me, watchin' e'ery move i made to get that snare off 'ts leg. thankfully it'd not struggled much, so's the skin 'd not gotten torn. 'twas sure a day i'll n'er ferget!

We had one that lived in a tree at my parents. I could get real close. It was small and beautiful.
