oh, what a glorious mourning

Husband's aunty passed away a couple of weeks ago. She was seventy, and it was Cancer. The funeral is on Wednesday and family instructions are that we all wear bright clothing. This isn't particularly surprising; his cousin insisted on Disney ties for all men at her wedding. However, what may surprise you is that neither of us own brightly coloured clothing. Well, I do possess a bright blue t-shirt, but it has a PS4 game emblazoned on the chest. Not appropriate. I also possess a lovely red cardigan, but it's bit too snug for me to wear. Most of my clothes are a bit too snug. I really must lose weight. Like mine, Husband's wardrobe is made up of darker colours and shades. Saturday was therefore a mad rush to buy some funeral appropriate gear of the bright persuasion. He has two smart polo shirts to choose from. I have mustard tights to complement a mustard cardigan. No doubt it will be a hot day. Sunday meanwhile, was a day whence Betty got her sweaty on. I popped into the garden to do a spot of gardening, and a spot became an entire afternoon which culminated in a giant, Oof! as I pulled a particularly pesky shrub root out of an unyielding patch of flowerbed. And now, it is Monday. It is glorious. I slept quite well and am currently enjoying the grey clouds and drizzle of rain which patters gently upon the bus window. Today WILL be a good day. I hope.

@poppylicious It is important that one dresses in such a fashion so that one is distinguishable from the deceased- you certainly don’t want to upstage her or be mistaken for her.

I have no idea what she'll be wearing, and I'll never know unless I'm told! Open caskets aren't the norm in England.
